Exactly as described, it efficiently removes any organic compounds in the air (smells, VOC, formaldehyde...), and would probably work as well for water filtration in an aquarium. Used it in air-purifier and vacuum cleaner to replace expensive/out-of-stock original filters (in combination with no-brands HEPA vacuum cleaner bags, cut at the desired dimension to generate the combination of large and fine particles and smells removal, also thereof avoiding to clog the carbon filter too early. A great and inexpensive solution! Contrary to other reviews, I confirm it is indeed containing activated carbon, you can feel it when you cut it to the desired size, plus, it does the job.
