Great DIY and easy to assemble ARC lighter. Seems to work fine with surprisingly hi output, capable of producing arc across about 5mm gap (have not tried extreme or it may damage something) Draws about 2.5 A from 5V source, current will increase with smaller arc gap (and so will the frequency of the oscillator). Now I am thinking what case to install it in and rechargeable power source for it...

Simple little soldering project that took just a few minutes to complete - worked first time. The kit is supplied without instructions, and mostly it's possible to figure out where things go. The most confusing item is the actual spark generator (potted coil). There are two insulated wires, and then a number of thinner enamel coated wires. At first glance the enamel coated wires look mixed up, but they are actually soldered at the ends. I placed this unit on the board with the insulated wires nearest the board, and then simply soldered the enamel coated wires to the 3 holes, in the order that they came out of the component. I didn't shorten them to avoid having to remove the enamel and instead joined them on the lower surface as I anticipated perhaps changing the order, and squeezed the excess length of enamel coated wires into a little bundle - it worked first time for me - I'll move the wires to the upper surface if I can be bothered.

Very nice, works well on a single lithium battery (e.g. 18650 or 1S LiPo). The board has been updated so looks a bit different than the instructions. Transformer connects the same way. There's no more capacitor and Q1 has two pins instead of 3, middle one is cut. You may still need to ensure a connection between the case/middle pin and the pad on the board (B+). There's no more screw to mount Q1 and it heats up during use so thermal paste is highly recommended to transfer heat to the board and keep it from overheating. If you don't get a spark at first move the wires around a bit, the spark is sometimes reluctant to start but then keeps going.

easy little kit, did note use tie strap that was supplied for the coil but uv epoxy resin, also parts in description are different but did not affect the build and works.

All looks good. I am a novice at soldering and will put together after a little more practice on some of the simpler kits. Although there are not many components on this one there is one that is not a through hole component.

this is the best diy kit I ever recived. It is very small and when assembled it could fit in your pocket. Its cost is reasonable perfect for diy projects. must buy,but you need to be experienced in soldering and diy projects.
