It's one of the hardest models I ever build but the result was worth it, with a few upgrade parts it looks really awesome. I can recommend to get some good tools because the one that came with it were worn out after a few scews. I used a Wera 118062 0,9mm screwdriver, a Knipex 7806125 pliers and the XIAOMI Mijia 24 in 1 Multi-purpose screwdriver. And you need a really small solder iron because you have to solder tiny SMD LEDs.

Really nice car I am looking forward to building together. One of the most beautiful rc cars I know with sound and light is really awesome and nothing for beginners! much patience is needed with the small screws and small parts. Especially the most important of all!!! Take a look at these templates three four times before you cut off what is very important for the car;) the bottom four pictures are of the one that is already finished and bought in Germany overpriced xD but also very nice

It wasn't that easy 🙂 Small car but a big challenge. If you choose to assemble the complete kit with the electronics together, it may take some time. However, there is a satisfaction after all. You need a good 0.9mm hex screwdriver and a good caliper. All other screws are screwed in with the provided very nice quality small screwdriver. There is a lot of redundant screws left after assembling which is good. Sometimes you need to saw something gently. Do not rush 😉 Basic version assembly time is about 1-2 afternoons. The version with electronics and other accessories can takes about 3-5 days. The first time is always the hardest and will take a long time. Finally: this was my first Orlandoo kit, it took a while to assemble, but I'm happy 😀👍

Great little kit. I have built several Orlandoo Hunter Model kits now, and this is my second Defender. While they may seem a little daunting at first, they are actually quite nice to work on. The lights can be a bit of a nightmare, but it's doable. Soldering the SMDs can be done, but you need a decent soldering iron and a magnifying glass, at least I did. Another option is to buy some pre-soldered SMDs and use those. Once built the truck handles really well, even in stock form. I have kitted mine out with some cosmetic upgrades and wheel weights, but otherwise it is stock. I recommend getting some wheel weights in the front, it really helps. If you want to go further, I would recommend metal axle housings and drive shafts. I have those on my OH Jeep, and they are fantastic. They are future upgrades on my Defenders.

The quality of the screws leaves to be desired therefore careful when tightening them, but otherwise a very good product, delighted with the final result!

My first attempt at building a really small scale RC car. Previously I've worked on 1/10 RCs, built an Axial SCX10 II and several WPL trucks. Those are easy to work on. This one is a bit more difficult, but not much - if you have the patience for it. At first glance, when opening the box, the build seems a little daunting. The parts are so tiny, and all the little screws are small than anything I've ever used before - smaller than in mobile phones and laptops I've worked on. Once you get the parts out, and have a closer look at it though, you see that it's pretty much like putting together a larger scale set. You just need smaller tools and a magnifying glass (at least I did). The parts all go together without any issues. I did have one shock tower crack slightly when installing a ball end, but that's the only issue I had during the build. Take your time, follow the manual carefully, and it's a surprisingly forgiving set to build. A tip, use tweezers to handle the screws. Luckily all parts and screws are sorted for you, and clearly labeled. I'd say the worst part of the build was the SMD leds - and there's a bunch of them. They are so tiny, and soldering them is a bit of a hassle. It's doable, but far from easy. Installing them is quite difficult too, and despite all leds working when I installed them, a few stopped working by the time I had them all glued in place. Oh well, live and learn. I have yet to paint the body and install all the trim, but the car runs nicely and works really well. The motor has plenty of torque for micro scale crawling, and it looks so good doing it - and probably even better once painted. If you're up for a bit of a challenge I highly recommend getting a kit, preferably one with the D4L set, that gives you a good esc, sound, lights and most of the stuff you need. Just don't forget to order a battery. This kit does not come with a battery!

Received it in good order. Hopefully there will be no missing parts bag this time. I will assemble it soon.

This the most complete kit you can get. Everything is included except the battery, charger and 4AA batteries for the transmitter. The car is very interesting to build but requires patience and a good small tip screwdriver and 0.9mm hex as the keys in the kit are unconfortable to use. The skid plate is quite fragile so my advice is to get a metal one right away. The transmitter is made from cheap plastic but has all the basic functions and a compete control of the led lights. Holds 10 model memmory. The wheel is confortable and provide good control, same for the throttle. You need a steady hand to solder all the smd or you can get pre soldered smd (sold separetely).
