Jonathan I have just tried it with a 12v AC bell transformer and it works fine

Jonathan Yes, works with one or two 18650 batteries which all seem to come with a recessed positive terminal so it won't reach the contact in the battery compartment! I had to fit a brass spacer to make them work!

Jonathan I have just tried powering my (outside) camera doorbell with a standard 12vAC bell transformer and it works fine. It also works with batteries alone or with AC power and battery. The battery compartment has room for two batteries but they are both wired together so will work with a single battery. I have not had it for long enough to see if it will charge the battery when connected to an AC supply
