Keepes530 The XP-G3 is more of a white/blue colored tint. The Nichia emits more of a white/yellow natural colored light that shows colors closer to what they really are like sunlight does. I prefer the Nichia for those properties. It does not put out as much lumens as the XP-G3 but the difference in output is hard to tell by your eyes. You can search on YouTube to get a visual idea of the differences. Hope this helps!

Keepes530 As far as the S42 tube not accepting protected batteries will this light even work on all modes with a protected cell? I know with all my other hot rod lights it trips the PCB when trying to use the higher levels. If that's the case it shouldnt matter anyway as long as the threads match and the tube makes contact
