DO NOT BUY THIS! Five stars so the review does not get hidden. When it arrived I saw the earth wire and though good. All UK appliances with metal bits you can touch must be earthed. However opening the plug the earth wire is connected to live and its fitted with a 13 Amp fuse (should be 1 Amp) The lamp has single insulated wires running from the base to the bulb holder. In time the rough inside of the bendable neck will rub through the insulation on the wire, causing the bit you touch to become live at mains voltage. If you don't see the danger in the way this item is wired. then you probably shouldn't be buying it or aiming for a Darwin award. I have converted mine to run from a 12v plug pack and fitted it with car leds.
