This is my 3rd unit and as always I am very satisfied with the transceiver. Advertising is a bit misleading stating 8W - It is probably somewhere in the range of 5W - 7W . Its bigger and more rugged than the older brother 5R and can take a little rain and dust. Tested them on 2m band at 8 mile distance and they ran like a champ. Programmed it using CHIRP with PMR frequencies for the kids and they love it while playing in the woods. Definitely worth the money!
