I use them without the eye shaped face plate and foam (see picture). This gives them a futuristic look and also give 3 other advantages. 1. My eyes are very close which give me the same view as a 46 inch TV screen at 3 meters distance. 2. I can see under the goggles for LoS flying. So no need to take the goggles off or even move them when I want direct LoS in the air - or on the ground (when it decided to unintentionally ' lands' ;-) 3. I get dizzy from closed goggles, but with this setup I can occasional looking ' under the glasses' which helps reset my brain and don't make me dizzy. I love them! recommend them for any beginner.
