This is an essential upgrade for the 183XX rc trucks. The stock plastic gears don't last very long. However, you also need to add shims to the outdrives if you want the metal gears to last. If you have any left-to-right play in the differential, the gears will separate and strip. Find some 12mm x 10mm shims (0.1 to 0.2 mm thick) and put them between the outdrive bearings and the differential housing until all the slop is gone. And don't forget to grease the gears!

One of the parts that I HIGHLY recommend you upgrade if you purchase a HS 18311, 118312, or 18321. The plastic ones that comes with the RC wears out/broke in less than a week. Easy to upgrade and works perfectly.

Great upgrade to replace the weak plastic gears that come stock on the car. be sure to get 2 sets to upgrade the front and rear diffs at the same time!
