The motherboard with ESP8266 on the one side has a stack for 18650 Accu at the otherside. It is a Nodemcu module with pins for soldering. It is useable by WiFi within the local WLAN. Very good for learning purposes.

Works OK so far. Tested with a sketch to connect to Wifi and send a message to my MQTT Broker. Warning - Get the flat topped battery as the version with the nipple (+ve) is too long and will distort the board if you force it in.
