Grafton26 thepoint is tapered down to a smaller than normal size and allows easier access on small lathes

Grafton26 Ithink they are for easy identifying , I have seen them without the coloured bits , they work fine in any case

Grafton26 Hi mate , this spindle motor is a simple DC motor , the speed is controlled by varying the level of DC voltage the motor receives the silver box is the variable DC power supply , very simple but effective . hope this helps you
