Professor99 Banggood have already responded and they provided a list of things to try. One of them was the actual solution that I had stumbled across in the meantime (an additional step after installing the drivers) Unfortunately, due to the language challenge, I might not have understood what was being suggested unless I had already gone through it. So A for effort, a B for results, but it's working now! Thanks Banggood!

I received an error message after sending the sketch to the UNO. Transmission occurs (Rx light flashes and Arduino messages appear up to the error point). The error seems to indicate that the sketch data didn't verify correctly (scrambled transmission). Although no one else seems to have encountered this error on the internet or at Banggood, I tried all the problem resolutions suggested such as
