Very nice instrument, takes AUTOMATIC to a new level. It detects what you are measuring and selects the function automatically. If you connect the probes to a DC source, it measures DC voltage. If the probes are connected to AC voltage it measures AC voltage (and shows the frequency too, on a secondary display). As soon as you touch the probes together it starts beeping for continuity test. Same for resistance. If it detects current passing inside the clamp, it switches automatically to current measurement. For AC current it shows the frequency too. It measures temperature too, and comes with a K thermocouple. It cannot automatically detect capacitances or semiconductor junctions, though. For those it has manually selectable ranges. There are manually selectable ranges for small AC and DC voltages too (up to 600 mV). AC and DC current can also be manually selected. The DC current measurements fluctuate up to 100 mA around the true value, but that is acceptable for a clamp meter. It is important to note to the novice that most current clamp meters usually measure only AC currents. To measure DC currents it takes Hall Effect sensor, so this is not a basic instrument. There are two points that are not great though: 1) When the lever that opens the clamp is pressed, some stress is transmitted to the LCD display and stains appear on the LCD. That could cause the LCD to fail with time. 2) When inserting or removing the probes or the thermocouple, the LCD shows stains too, and sometimes the equipment reset. Not a good sign also. Anyway, great instrument, and very compact also. I hope that it lasts.
