bobcroft Yes, you can leave it powered when open or closed as its internal micro switch removes power to the motor to stop it burning out.

bobcroft In a nutshell you do not know if it is opened or closed because there is no feedback. However, since the valve is opened by say brown / green wires and closed by blue and green wires then green is neutral. Therefore if the brown wire is energized the valve will be open, if the blue wire is energized it will be closed. Once open or closed the power to the motor is cut off via a micro switch to stop it over heating. So it it is open, brown wire live, the you can only close it by applying power to the blue wire. Alternatively it could be blue open / brown close, either way the working principal is the same. It does not work by opening when power is on and close when power is off. It has to be powered both ways as I described.

bobcroft The wiring colors are misleading, they are NOT the UK standard. The blue and brown are both lives to open and close the valve, the green is neutral, so if you supply neutral and live on brown the valve opens, if you supply neutral and live on the blue the valve closes or vice versa.

bobcroft The sizes referred to are the thread sizes i.e. 12" BSP or possibly NPT. In order to fit to a 22 mm pipe you need a 22 to 1/2" Male iron (MI) connector from your local plumbers merchant or an on line supplier like Toolstation in the UK.
